Local Happenings
- This past weekend the annual Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair (ACAB) was held in Asheville. The bookfair was created with the intention of hosting a third space focused on solidarity and collective care. This year it featured a packed 3 days of programming and a keynote address from former Black Panther Ashanti Alston. acabookfair

- On June 28th the current President of the United States and proud war criminal Joe Biden held a rally the day after the slow moving car crash that was the presidential debate – in response a protest was held in front of the Jim Graham Building. pslcarolinas
- On July 2nd Governor Roy Cooper signed the SHALOM Act into law. This act will make the working definition of anti-semitism from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance the official definition of anti-semitism in North Carolina. The signing of this act has been rushed due to the rise of pro-Palestinian protests in the US, and will continue to add to the misconstruing of pro-Palestine actions as anti-semitic actions, a notion that is harmful and untrue.
- This past Saturday the Triangle Tenant Union held a training session for beginning a tenant union. If you were unable to make it last Saturday, they will be at the Carrboro Really Really Free Market this Saturday, July 6th! triangletenants

Peace, Love, & Abolition,
CJAA Exec
CJAA (Community Justice, Abolition, & Antiracism collective) is an abolitionist, student-led movement agitating against the carceral state, prison-industrial complex, zionism, policing, white supremacy, imperialism, colonialism, and all forms of oppression — in UNC, Amerikkka, and abroad. We are dedicated to local action and community justice as tools for building a world in which carcerality is obsolete. We hold firmly that our criminal legal system is the result of a white supremacist state that is not broken but is working precisely as intended. As a community of Queer, BIPOC, and marginalized peoples, we work to actively dismantle this white supremacist system, while creating equitable systems of justice and a world based in empathy and compassion. We hold true that awareness is most powerful when acted upon. We are committed to not only calling on people in positions of power, but on ourselves to do the work necessary to change our immediate community. We aim to cultivate a space that allows for vulnerability and growth while acknowledging the value of impact over intentions. CJAA views itself as a movement within the larger movement for liberation around the world, and we acknowledge that our work is interconnected in the fight against all forms of oppression
