Local Happenings
- This past Saturday, North Carolina had a BDS win. By ensuring that the Out!Raleigh Pride followed the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement against Israel’s genocide of Palestinians, Raleigh became one of the first cities in the nation to hold a BDS-compliant pride.
- The LGBT Center of Raleigh and the organizers of the pride event released a statement explaining the significance of their decision.
- Follow @trianglequeersbashback on instagram and be on the lookout for posts related to anti-imperialist queer organizing in the triangle!
- On Wednesday, workers in Durham came together to discuss their working conditions and launch demands for heat safety along with @raiseupthesouth.
Opportunities/Events/Ways to Get Involved Outside of CJAA
- Scalawag Magazine is accepting pitches for this year’s abolition week! This year’s theme is the wretchedness of empire. They prioritize the work of currently or formerly incarcerated individuals. Spread the word and/or send pitches to team@scalawagmagazine.org.
- On Wednesday at 7pm in Durham, Pinkhook is hosting a free screening of One Million Experiments paired with a conversation and performance. After the screening, there will be a conversation with Lewis Wallace (Press On & Interrupting Criminalization), Brea Perry (Refund Raleigh), and Nhawndie Smith (Durham Beyond Policing). - Come out this Sunday at the Pinhook in Durham for Zelda Saves: a Palestine Solidarity Fundraiser. The event is 16+ and doors open at 6:30.
- June 28th is the start of this year’s Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair in Asheville, NC. Check out their ig for a list of vendors and programming for the weekend!
- Join the Triangle Tenant Union on Saturday for an organizer training on tenant organizing! 1pm at Jubilee Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.
- Open call for Sudanese community members to participate in “Illuminating Sudan,” an fundraising event for the Sudanese American Physicians Association. DM @sjpcarolinas on instagram if you’re interested in performing!
