Happy Monday!
We hope you’ve had a restful weekend. Here are a few updates!
CJAA will be hosting a community picnic in the coming weeks. It’s open to our general body. Stay tuned for details.
Local Happenings:

The CH Community fridge was restocked. More information below and at @chcommunityfridge on instagram.

@Trianglemaskbloc is offering free masks and rapid tests for COVID.

SJP is asking for footage of anonymous actions for Gaza in the triangle. Send to uncsjp@proton.me[general updates of unc + north carolina business that relates to abolition, Palestine, organizing, etc.]
UNC professor Larry Chavis has been fired from the university after secretly recording his classes. Chavis is a member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and has been vocal in advocacy for marginalized people. A full story on his firing can be found here.

Operation Stop CPS: Locals have packed the courts 3 times for a mother that faced CPS intervention at Duke University due to a suspected lack of housing. CPS is an extension of a police state which harms birth-givers of color. Folks arrived at court on the 14th. Lawyers closed the court and advocates weren’t allowed into the room leaving the mama without community support to empower her. Follow @operationstopCPS and @wanttobewelldoula for more information on how to be involved and take action to stop CPS. The next court packing date is June 28th at 9am.

SJP Court Packing: We have packed the courts for those facing criminal charges for demanding UNC divestment from the rogue state of Israel several times. The June 10th hearing at the Hillsborough courthouse was continued so follow @uncsjp on Instagram to stay updated and for info on the next court packing date.

New Call Diversion Program: On June 10th, Raleigh city council voted 5-2 to pass the FY25 budget, allocating money to a new call diversion program in response to demands for a crisis response program independent of police. Community members are standing firm on their demands for a community response team independent of police and CJAA stands opposed to increased funding toward police departments. Follow @refundraleigh for more information.
