Local Happenings
Court-sitting. Yesterday morning was the first of upcoming three community gatherings/rally/court-sittings in support of those arrested after the Triangle Gaza Solidary Encampment ended. Monday’s took place at the Orange County Courthouse, but the hearing was not completed.
If you’re interested in showing support at future court-sittings, the remaining two are tentatively scheduled for 6/24 at the Wake County Courthouse and 7/30 at the Orange County Courthouse. Visit @uncsjp for more information/updates.
Biden, We Are Your Red Line. A pro-Palestine, anti-genocide rally in DC began June 8th and is ongoing, in support of the people of Gaza. This rally drew thousands to DC, including busses from Chapel Hill. The name is in reference to the IDF attacking Rafah, which they called a “red line.” The Biden administration also claims a red line would be the point at which they would be taking action (as in, once israel crosses this red line, the administration would supposedly act to hold them accountable for the genocide, slaughter and countless humanitarian violations taking place). Despite this, and as expected, the state continues to flaunt meaningless rhetoric to continue support of ongoing injustice. For us, for protestors, they formed a physical red-line through DC to show that “we are your red line.” We must draw a solid red line where the state refuses to.
Opportunities/Events/Ways to Get Involved Outside of CJAA
Rally to support a LGBTQ+ Resolution in Raleigh. Join NCSU YDSA for a rally at the Raleigh Municipal Building on June 11th at 6pm.
Mutual Aid Request: Car support. A community member’s car was stolen and had their ignition ripped out. They are looking to raise the remainder of a $700 need ASAP! Please consider donating, and please share this flyer on your socials.
Action Alert: In support of Amanda Wallace, founder of Operation Stop CPS. She is being prosecuted, likely in retaliation for organizing in defense of families. Contact the DA to drop all charges against Amanda, and sign the support letter! Find more information here.
Mutual Aid Request: Help A Palestinian Mother Fight For Her Kids! A community member is organizing in support of a single Palestinian mother, requiring legal funds to fight for custody of her children while finalizing a divorce. The goal is $8000, and we are in need of ~$5000 more. Please contribute and share!
